- Travelling people call to our house very often. Some of them are called tinkers, others gipsies. The tinkers go from house to house selling saucepans and cans, at the same time begging food. The gipsies sell mats and delph and sleep in caravans on the road side. The tinkers make tents of canvas and sleep under them on the ground. We do not like to see them coming if we are alone. We shut the door on them if our parents are not at home.(continues on next page)
