- We have a churn at home, the height of which (of) is two feet. It is ten years old. The sides are round. There are three parts to it, the cuisín, the body and the bottom. There are six hoops on it, and it is made of American oak. In Winter churning is done only once a week, because the weather is too cold. In Summer the weather is warm and the milk will thicken quick and churnings are made twice a week. When strangers come in churning the making of the churning and do not the churn dash they are supposed to have the butter with them. It take haf an hour to make a churning.
