    door. They met and before the leaves withered she had kept her promises though dead at the time; as a letter which came two weeks after proved.
    When I was thirteen years of age I was on a visit with a relative in Crossard, Ballyhaunis. Well this day I was sent on a message to a neighbouring woman a few fields away and delivered my message and started for home. It was then three o'clock in the afternoon and although I knew the direction well and the neighbourhood I was walking for hours through beautiful fields bedecked with flowers; grand rivers I crossed and heard the bleating of lambs and other animals saw. The birds made sweet music in the trees. In the evening of a summers day when I came out on the road beside the house of a man named Folliard - the house is there still - I made my way home, three or four miles from where I should have come.
