    John MacGeever's fort in Tavnaghbeg has a stone wall around it and the graves of unbaptised children are inside the wall. It is said that music and churning have been heard in it. It is said that every May Night the fairies are changed from one fort to another and that they have been heard shouting and cheering. When the people till the fields in which the forts are they never interfere with the forts.
    I have heard of a man who tilled a fort about sixty years ago but before doing so he went one evening after sunset and turned over a sod and asked the "good people" if they did not wish to be disturbed to turn it back again before morning. It was as he left it in the morning and he took it as a sign that they were quite satisfied to have the fort tilled and he went on with his crop.

    There was a grave made in Tavnghabeg fort and no one ever saw the people who put the coffin in it.
    The 'Caoineadh' was heard in Tavnghabeg fort.
    In the middle of the fort there is a hole which the people call a cave.
