- (continued from previous page)He after careful examination of the eye took the patient with him to the room and blindfolded him. He also [?] some water in a saucer with him. Then he performed the spell. He repeated in a loud solemn tone the following:-"Araigh a chur Muire le súil a h-Aon brithe braoinín, colg an coinlín, craobh úr, craobh ghlas, craobh críon, ribe ciún 'gus é (?) ar fad. Iarraing é a Mhic Mhuire 'gus tabhair an braonín leat"After removing the dallóg he was able to show the dust or other foreign matter that was the cause floating in the saucer of water. The patient was all right. He felt no further ill effects but what natural [?] soreness in the eye that arose from length of time he had been suffering.The words would make one think that they were rather a prayer than a spell.(continues on next page)
