    There was once an old man who lived in their parish who was tormented with rats.
    One day the smith called to his house, and told him he would banish the rats. The man agreed. Then the smith quickly reddened the irons. Then he cooled them in water and washed his hands in it. He then sprinkled the water where the rats were accustomed to come. The next day the rats were found dead, a short distance from the forge.
