A churn is about two feet four inches in height and one foot four inches in diameter. Our churn is five years old. The sides of it are not perpendicular but slant. We churn twice a week in Summer, and once a week in Winter. When made my mother takes it out in a roll.
There was once a woman who was driving the cows. One morning she met a red haired woman who did not bless the cows, and when the woman went making a churning she could not get any butter. A man came in and asked her could she get butter and she said no," and he said ."Give me the cultur of the plow," and he put it into the fire and reddened it. Then he took it out and put it under the churn. Then the woman was not able to churn with all the butter.
