In olden times there was an old oak-stick stretching from Cloonfinish to Lisloughlin. The people used this as a passage between those two townlands. One day according to the story - this plant which was really a huge reptile crawled from its old resting place, whistled two or three times and made its way to the sea bidding good-bye forever to Cloonfinish.
