- The old people say they often saw the water horse out grazing on Paddy Devines land in Ballinacurra. They used to see his tracks in the morning. It is also said that the water horse is able to draw you in to the water with his breath. He is like a small pony.
- In James Philbin's fort in Cloonfinish is a gap between two ash trees that is called "Geata na h-Altora" Between those trees when the priest the priest- hunters were, there used to be an Altar. That is the reason for calling the gap the name it has.
