- Tramps come to this district in carts and some walking.
The Maughans are the people that usually come here.
They come from Ballinrobe and Ballina direction and camp in Carrownisky. Four or sometimes six go together to the houses. They sell tin-cans and saucepans which they make themselves and in return they buy or get in exchange eggs, horse-hair and eool.Others come to the houses begging and when they get tea or flour or some such thing they say "God bless you and I will be praying for you."
Sarah Fallon only begs for a bit of wool or an egg or a penny. She does not remain in the place at all.
