bride's parents. Cattle are hardly ever given. People used to get married in their houses about twenty-five years ago. In older times people used to ride on horseback to the wedding. The people raced each other on the way home. The women always sat on the horses behind their husbands.
it is thought to be unlucky to get married on a Friday or in the month of May. "Marry in May, and you will wed poverty," are old sayings. Some people say that it is unlucky to get married in green, "Married in green, ashamed to be seen," is another old saying.
