Ar an leathanach seo

He asked him to join with Mr Brannigan and that he would give him a good salary. Of course he would have to become a Protestant before joining forces with Mr Brannigan. This Pryal was not prepared to do.
The Catholic clergy objected to Brannigans school and they would not allow the old people go there. It was a plan of Brannigan's to set up those Irish schools in hopes that the Catholic people would turn Protestants.
Father Malone heard about this. He went one day to the school and beat the Brannigans and also turned out all the children of the school.
This put an end to Brannigan's school. Afterwards the National Schools were established and there was a block of timber attached to each child's neck. If the child would speak one word of Irish this block was scored. At the end of a period these notches were counted and commensurated punishment administered.
