In olden days men carried the coffins on their shoulders to the burial ground. In the country the coffin was put into a cart in which was placed a little straw. There was no road to Leigue Cemetery then and all funerals went by Bohernasup. On returning from the cemetery the people scattered the straw along the way, so that the road was strewn with wisps. That is how Bohernasup got its name.9. Enniscrone = Inis Eiscir Abhann = The Island of the river sand ridge.10. Easkey = Iasgach = The river abounding in fish.11.
