The neighbours who used to go rambling there would hear this uncanny "hop" and would gaze at each other with faces set in astonishment knowing that the boyo was landed. The old hag who lived there, and for whose information it seems the ghost would make this noise, would at once go to the room and engage in conversation with him for some time. This used to continue night after night, the old hag getting from him information concerning those who were dead from that district.
Whatever information she got she generally told to the neighbours concerned, when this became known people used to come from all over the parish to get this old hag to elicit from the ghost tidings of their own departed relatives, and this often resulted in quarreling and furious fighting. The thing was assuming such large proportions and becoming so serious that the parish priest was eventually informed and requested to come to the haunted house. The priest informed the messenger he would be at the house at a certain hour. When he arrived a large crowd of people had assembled. The good "Sagare a Ruin" set to work and after going through a certain ceremony ,in the course of which it is related beads of perspiration rolled down his cheeks, he dispatched the evil spirit, for such he must have been from the(continues on next page)- Informant
