- Long ago there used to be a King over every kind of trade. And there was a man over the gamblers and he was called Gambler of the Branch. And he was so good at playing that no one on earth could win any sort of a game on him. So no one would play with him and he grew lonesome. And he said that when no one in this world would play cards with him that he would try in the other world. He went off walking and he never stopped off the journey until he came to the great doors of a hill and he knocked at them.
"Who is there" said a man.
"I am" said the Gambler of the Branch. "I am seeking to play a game of cards with the devil"
The devil came and he said "What have you to play for because I only play for people's souls"
"I will play my own soul against one of them that you have in there"
"I will" said the devil.
The gambler got the first game and he won the most of the others until he had won every soul but one and the devil would not play for(continues on next page)- Collector
