    They keep the water they wash the churn with until they have the milk churned for fear the fairies would bring the butter. When they are going out at night with a baby they put a coal and a grain of salt in the babies sleeve so that the fairies will not bring it.
    If anybody has a sore head he throws a hairpin away and says these words “let someone else have you[”] then the pain goes and someone gets the hairpin and he takes the sore head. When a person has a bad leg he throws a cloth off it away and it is cured.
    When a person has cow-pock and the doctors have faile[d] to cure it they go to Michael Hendry and he cures him.
