  1. About one hundred years ago the Atkinson family lived in Rehins House, which is situated in the townland of Rehins, the parish of Backs, and County Mayo. There were three ladies in this family, and they were very kind to the people, who lived near them. There was no National School in this district at this time, so the good ladies began to teach the neighbouring children in a room in Rehins House.
    The children, who attended this school, were taught knitting, sewing, reading, and writing, but, they were not taught anything about religion, as their teachers were not Catholics.
