They heard no more crying, and when they were coming at Hollywood gate, they saw a very big black dog standing before them on the road, but they could not pass. They both got unconscious. When they got alright, they jumped on their bicycles and went home. When they reached Martin James's house, Richard Nallan went into it, and Mrs James asked what had kept them so long away. They told her, and she said she believed that it was not right for them to be out after twelve o'clock. She told them that all the ghosts are out at that time.
