- Thomas Ginty is a local poet. He was born in Rathnamaugh, Crossmoline, Co. Mayo, about the year eighteen hundred and eight. He first went to school in Rathnamaugh to Mrs Barrett. He then went to school in Crossmoline. Mr Ryan of Ballygrogg, Crossmolina, taught there at that time.
Thomas Ginty is now working at Mc Shannon of Clorna[?], Ardagh. Last April one of the Shannon boys died in Dublin Hospital and Ginty composed an elegy on his death. He composed a song about Ardagh, Mayo. He wrote a Charade[?] to a companion of his in America telling him about the native place.
