- There are two forges in this parish, one is worked by a family named Enrights and the other by a family named Flemings.
As far back as any old person can remember the Enrights have been smiths, but the great grandfather of the Flemings was a farmer.
The Fleming's forge is situated in the centre of the village and Enright's forge is on the main road to Fermoy about two and a half miles from Ballyduff and quite close to the Blackwater river. The forge is built of stone with a galvanised roof.
Th door is very wide and much higher than the ordinary doors. There are two fireplaces in each of the forges.
The old bellows are very very big but of the same shape as the ordinary fire bellows. They are made of leather and timber and a long iron pipe and(continues on next page)- Collector
