    to the mountains to till the land and make little houses for themselves. The mountain or bad land was divided between themthey had to till it, and the landlord put a good rent on them, when they had it tilled. The landlord had a great power over his tenants, they were punished for the smallest act such as passing by the landlord and not saluting him, by raising their caps.
    For a small offence they would have to go on their knees and crave his pardon, if not they would be eviceyed or perhaps thrashed.
