    was watching from the window he saw a woman coming in the road towards the bridge. The way she walked and the way she was dressed told him that she was not one of the common country people. He went down to the bridge where he found she had been stopped by the guard. He asked her her name and she told him. Margaret Roche from Conna and that she was going to see a sick daughter near Dungarvan. He then asked her for he pass and she said she did not know that an honest woman had need of a pass. Ivers flew into a rage and said he would kill her. She replied that if he did he would have her foster-son Garret Condon down on him and he would give him "Condon's Quarters".
    He then told his men to throw her over the bridge and just as they were lifting her over the railings he shouted out "stop until I cut out her tongue". But he could not carry out his threat because they had already thrown her in. She did not sink because
