- (continued from previous page)Maidrín Droichid : It is often said in the district that Ivers still appears in the shape of a dog and that this dog is the Maidrín Droichid.
- On the Bohar Garbh road there is a famous stone known as "The Earl's Stone". This stone got its name, "The Earl's Stone" after the Battle of Affane 1565. This battle was fought between the Butlers [Earls of Ormond] and the Fitzgeralds [Earls of Desmond]. The battle lasted a full day and the Butlers were victorious.
After the battle the Butlers started the march home. When they reached Bohar Garbh the Earl of Ormond halted his men for a rest. The(continues on next page)
