    went to the forge to get the pick repaired for the next days work, but when he was coming home he got a paralytic stroke and died in a few days after.

  2. My grandfather told me he knows only one Holy Well in the parish. It is in the neighbouring field belonging to Morris', Ballyhamlet. People still visit it on a special day. This day is called the Pattern Day.
    On Pattern day rounds were made and special prayers are said by the people and when the prayers were said a drink of water was given to the people. Two palm trees grow at the well.
    Once when an old man owned this field he thought there was too much land taken up with the well and he went to plough it and he died a few days later.
