A man once washed his sore eyes in the water of this well and the water disappeared in one night. The well became so dry that cracks came in the mud at bottom of the well. A man named William Cunningham brought a bag of sand on his back from the river Tourig and put it in the well. He also put Holy Water in it. Water came back. This must have been a blessed well for it was surrounded by a clump of furze bushes on which are deposited rags.- Collector
