  2. Local Fairs

    Long ago there was a fair held at Matthews Cross which is a cross-road on the side of the main road from Cork to Waterford near Kilmeaden Co Waterford. It was a fair for sheep pigs and cattle. This fair is not held there now because the buyers were losing more than they were making so the custom was done away with. There are four fairs held in this county. The principal fairs are held in Waterford. There is another held in Carrick and another in Kilmacthomas. There is also a fair held in Dungar-
