- There is an old lios about a quarter of a mile from the school. It is situated in the centre of a marsh. This lios is the best known of all lioses in the parish.
The lios is in the shape of a saucer, round, and a hole in the middle. The lios is a high mound of earth made in the form of a circle and a trench of water surrounding it. The lios, it is said, according to old people was the residence of some old chieftain. The trench was a defence from wild animals or from an enemy. It is said that they those lioses during the Danish period to defend themselves from the Danes.(continues on next page)- Collector
