- Old Houses
There is one very old house in the district of Clonea. It is built of clay and stones. The clay was got in the ditches and on the bank of the river. The boughs of trees were used under the thatch. The fireplace can still be seen at the gable end of the house. My grandmother lived in it for fifty years. There was no chimney in it. They made a hole in the thatch to let out the smoke. It is now in ruins - Old Houses
About 100 years there was an old house on my fathers farm. A man called Davie Keating was the owner of most of the land in this townland. When he died my fathers ancestors bought some of it. The field where the house stood was on the land bought. The house is not to be seen now but there are steps of the stairs on the ditch.- Collector
