When O'Donnell escaped from Dublin castle it is said, he came through Tallaght.
When he was coming through it, the soldiers on guard were inside playing cards.
When they heard the noise outside they thought it was people going to the market.
So he escaped to Glenmalure through the mountains.
It is said that when Emmet was hiding on the soldiers, that he hid in a big house not very far from here.
When the soldiers heard where he was, they came to searh the house.
But when Emmet saw them coming he went up the stairs and waited until they were in the house. Then he jumped through the top window and escaped.
The inhapitants of the house tried to shut the window after some time but found that no matter what way they shut it, it would open again
