The black patch been (it is said) the black patch mark left on the ground after the old Bruidhean (Bóthar na Bruidhne) had been burned down.At the end of the grounds of Heathfield Lodge (near here) is a huge boulder into which a marble slab was insertedOn the slab was the following inscription.Finmackoon, one of the Irish Giants carried this stone on his shoulders from the opposite mountain on April 1st 1444. He was 9ft 7ins in height and weighed 44 stones
