    lime kiln.
Half doors were very common long ago but they are gone out of date now. They had rushes for lights which they got in the ditches. They had bog deal splinters and turf to light the fire. They got the splinters and turf from the bogs.
On the mountains the houses were thatched with furze. People who had only one apartment had no comfort. We do not know how well off we are nowadays.
There are many people in Clondalkin who have half doors and even in the new houses which had no half doors the occupants are making half doors themselves and putting them up.
