    There are many old sings by which the old people used the weather. The following are a few of them;
    I [sic] When the fire burns brightly with a blue flame it is a sign of frost
    (2) When the smoke gets up in a straight line in the sky it is the sign of a good spell of weather
    (3) When the sheep go up to the top of the mountain it is a sign of good weather.
    (4) When the sheep come down a storm is approaching.
    (5) When Saint Brigid’s feast is bright and clear. There will be two Winters in that year.
    (6) When the Cranes fly away to the mountain loughs it is an indication of rain.
    (7) When the distant hills look near is also a sign of rain.
    (8) When the peacock cry this is a sign of rain.
    (9) When a dog eats grass it is a sign of rain
    (10) When the cats sits with it’s back
