    on it. This iron used to be used where there would be a big family and then they used to have a cake on the grid-iron and on the bread-iron at the one time. The stand under it was called the handle?.
    The people had in a very odd case a bread stick. It was used for hardening an oaten cake to the fire, after it would be half done on the bread-iron, if they had only one bread iron.
    Boxty bread was usually made for Hallow Eve.
    A cross was usually put on top of every cake to show that it came from the maker.
