- May-Lady Night is very much enjoyed by the children. In the evening they have great fun dressing a Maylady. Each child brings some article of dress, for her adornment.
When she is fully dressed in her white gown and hat, the children march along, singing gay songs, and scattering bright May blossoms before the May Queen which they carry shoulder high. As they pass along, kind people give them money. Some children sell little bunches of May flowers, which they say brings good luck. They also scatter flowers about the doors, and windows of their own homes for luck.- Collector
