    last survivors of this family died leaving a heavy mortgage on the farm which was subsequently sold by the mortgagee.
    Any and every improvement on house or farm always resulted in an increase of rent. Similarly with regard to fishing if a man got a new boat it was considered a sign of prosperity and he had to pay extra rent.
    It is conjectured locally that the increases in rent did not result in proportionate increase in income of the landlord but was pocketed by the agent.
