  1. (no title) (continued)

There are many stories told about fairies stealing people and this story is about a young girl who was stolen by them.

    (continued from previous page)
He told her that next day she would call "Mother" and that the woman was to catch her. The woman went away home and went to bed. She sat beside the bed all morning waiting till she would call "mother". The woman had an oaten cake beside the fire and it fell into the fire and she went over to lift it out. When she was at the fire she heard the call and she ran to catch the child but she was too late. Next day she went and told this to the priest and he was very angry and he said he could do nothing until the bishop came in two months time. The mother went home very downhearted and she did not know what to do. A few days after this the priest was passing and he went into the house. He saw the child in the bed and he read over her in the bed. When he was reading for some time the people of the house heard a horrible cry and the object in the bed jumped from the bed and went away and in its place lay the woman's daughter sound and well. Some time after this she went to America.
