    occassionally unearth coins not made apparently from either copper, silver or gold, but from some other kind of metal, and there is a great similarity between the blocks of metal and the coins unearthed.
    Now the site of where the old forge was working is still to be seen, but although it is now in part of the townland where Doohill is at that time before land was squared it was probably in the townland of Gortnacart, from which it has derived its name. Gort-na-Ceardchan, or the field of the forge.
