   The chief obeyed and followed the dwarf over hill and dale, moor and glen in pursuit of their enemies and overtook them at Bealach na gCreach a mountain pass between the present villages of Glenties and Ballybofey. The dwarf gave a loud shout and raised up his hands, whereupon the rival chieftan and his men were left standing like statues in the pass while the cattle turned and headed back homewards. The dwarf having allowed the motionless men to resume their journey- which they were glad to do even without their spoils-accompanied his chief on their return journey driving before them the recovered herds and flocks.
   In this journey, however, the chief spoke freely to all the men of substance, but never a word was addressed to the dwarf. As they drew near the Caslach the dwarf stood and addressing the chief said "We are now nearing our journey's end, and you have not spoken to me as much as one word, since we left Bealach na gCreach, about the great service I have rendered you.
