- (continued from previous page)and came off the horse and put his head down on her knee. She got a pair of scissors and cut a little bit of hair off the back of his head. He got on hid horse then again and went away to the shore where the beast was to come in. The horse drank his fill and then the beast came in. Jack fought with the beast and it put out fire on its nose. The horse put out water out of his nose and put out the fire. At last the beast went back to the sea and the horse went galloping home. Jack put the horse into the castle and put on his old clothes again and put in the cows. Next day the man told Jack to come that day and he told him all about the boy who came and beat back the beast. Jack said he wouldn't. Jack put out the cows got ready another horse and suit and went to the gathering. When the girl saw him coming she thought it wasn't the boy who came the day before but when he put his head on her knee she knew it was him. The horse went down and drank his fill and then the beast came and Jack fought with him. The beast put out fire but the horse put it out and after a great fight(continues on next page)
