    Poitin is made still in Ireland in spite of all the guards. In olden times it was made more oftener than it is made now. People had little houses made of stone and they were called the still houses.
    There is a little grate made of stone and the fire was lit in it in the house. The still was hung over the fire.
    This is how the poitin was made.
    First the barley was steeped in water for two days. Then it was scattered on an earthen floor
