    own grounds (about two acres) and commanded an entire view of the whole country side for miles around.
    It was called Rutland Barracks after the Duke of Rutland, Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. The Barracks contained [-] large rooms, and there was a separate turf yard at the side surrounded, by a wall [-] feet long and [-] high.
    The stones used for the erection of the wall were quarried by a local man at Bun na Saighdiúrdha a short distance from the Barracks. He got £15 for raising the stones for the turf yard.
