    in love with him. A short time afterwards the carpenter asked the girl to marry him but her father would not give his consent.
    The girl being broken hearted locked herself in her bedroom. The following morning the maid on receiving no answer naturally went to open the door and found it locked.
    The maid at once raised the alarm and b when the room was broken into, the girl was found hanging dead on the back of the door with a rope round her neck.
    The carpenter on hearing this, could not bear to see her but wished to touch
