- Long ago people believed that there was a local cure for almost everything. They had a certain kind of rub for a sprain.
The cured ring worm by using a plain gold ring and rubbing it round the sore three times, in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
The cure for toothaches was to kiss a frog.
If you got stung by a nettle the cure was to hold a docking leaf in the sting saying "Docking go in and nettle go out", until the sting gets better.
For warts the cure was to pick up a black snail which was found without looking for(continues on next page)
