    Now the way of closing doors at that time was to put a wooden bar across on the inside and the lads father used to go to bed before they came in and instead of barring the door he would wedge a spade between the door and the dresser which was nearby.
    This night when the lads burst in they knocked the dresser and all its illwon delph flying all over the floor.
