Co. Donegal. - To prepare the ground for the potatoes, we must first plough it. After it is ploughed we leave it for a while, and then we harrow it, and next we cultivate it.
Now we mark the ground into ridges for the potatoes.
When the ridges are formed we manure them and sow the seed three in a row.
When we have the seed sown we cover it with three or four inches of soil, so that when the stalks and leaves start to come up they will be able to come quite easily.
After a while the farmer has to shuvle[?] shovel up the ridges to make them nice and firm.
When he has the ridges shuvled[?] shoveled up he leaves them for a while, and then he sprays them(continues on next page)- Collector
