The cuckoo, pigeon, and the swallow by their early appearance show that good weather is coming, whereas the arrival of the thrush or the blackbird give signs of bad.
Another sign of bad weather is when the wild geese and seagulls crying loudly fly inland from the sea.
There are many stories of birds connected with the life of our Saviour but the most commonly known is that of the Dove. When our Saviour went to the river Jordan to be Baptized by St. John, after coming up out of the water the Heavens opened and the Holy Ghost, in the form of a Dove descended on His Head, while from Above a voice saying "This is My Beloved |Son in Whom I am well(continues on next page)
