- There was a shirt factory in Letterkenny some years ago, but it is closed down for the want of work. It employed a hundred or more girls and a few boys, and it was a British Firm.
There are forges and a foundry in the town still but they do not employ many hands. The foundry turns out all classes of implement for the farmers.
There is a woodwork factory at the Port and one in at Letterkenny mills for all kinds of woodwork and employing hands.
There used to be rope making in Letterkenny down where the electric house is now.
There was never any soap factory in the town. There is a Hosiery Factory in the High Road yet, and it employs some girls and boys at present but it used to employ more hands.- Collector
