- Make Oaten bread.
Oaten bread is an Old custom which is carried on in Ireland to the present day. The way to make is to put about three bowls of oat-meal into a dish and put about a spoonful of baking soda on it and mix it well with a spoon. Then put boiling water on it and mix it up again till it is dough. It is put on a bake board and flattened out by by the hands of the person who is making it. Then it is put on a bread iron and is placed in front of the fire for about an hour or so till it gets hard.- Collector
