- (continued from previous page)The Wren which is one of the smallest birds makes a much larger nest than any of the other small birds. The Wren's nest is ball shaped with a hole in one side to allow it to come in and go out. In addition to its building a much larger nest than other small birds, the Wren always lays from thirteen to fifteen very small brown spotted eggs. This is a very much larger number of eggs than is laid by the other wild birds. The usual number for Sparrows, Robins, Chaffinches, Greenhammers, Blackbirds and Thrushes is four.
