Vinegar and loaf bread give relief to a sprain. A poultice of sugar and soap, or loaf bread and soap is a cure for a swollen foot.

An old cure for a sprained foot was to boil yellow wrack and bathe the foot in it as hot as could be endured and then bandage it up.
Mumps.
A cure for Mumps is to put a halter on the person and lead him to a well and give him three sips of water in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
If a woman marries a man the same name as her own she is said to have the cure of the mumps.

When a person used to get an ear-ache the cure was to get black wool and put it in your ear.The best cure for a sore ear is to put an onion in a piece of cloth and then to hold it to your ear for a certain time.
Sore Throats.
